The Allen Arts Alliance is partnering once again with Target to promote and nurture the arts in Allen.  A generous grant from Target will help provide program materials for the Allen Art to Go program, an art appreciation program that reaches out to elementary and high school students, home school students, and senior citizens in the community.
 
The 2012 - 2013 Allen Art To Go program year is underway. Eleven AISD elementary schools are participating, and an Art to Go club is starting up at the high school. Presentations for home school students begin in October at the Blue House Gallery. If you are interested in volunteering, contact us!
 
 
The AISD elementary art exhibit - "Pop Rocks!"  - was a great success. Opening night at the Performing Arts Center gallery on November 13th brought hundreds of student artists, family member, teachers, and administrators. Thank you to the AISD art teachers for organizing the show and letting the young artists shine!

Allen Art to Go is ...

A CELEBRATION of the visual arts focusing on elementary school students. Allen Art to Go is an art appreciation program which exposes over 5000 Allen school children and adults to great works of art every month.

An EXPLORATION of what is seen with one's eyes, as well as with one's heart and intellect. Students use not only their eyes but also their intellect and heart to put into words thoughts about what a work of art means on a personal level.

A COLLABORATION of city local sponsorship and citizen talent. Allen Art to Go is sponsored by the Allen Arts Alliance and staffed by dedicated community volunteers. Volunteers include parents, grandparents, retired educators, and local business leaders among others.

Allen Art to Go volunteers visit elementary school classrooms once a month.  The volunteers present a themed art portfolio, a new one each month, and lead a discussion with the students. Portfolios topics range from ancient to modern art, and themes vary from specific artists or media, to specific art movements and historical periods. Portfolios often include additional hands-on and sensory activities.
